Volunteer Telford

Youth Leaders work directly with young people in St John Ambulance Badger Setts and Cadet Units. By organising a mixed weekly programme, this role will support the learning and development of young people into the next generation of health citizens.

Youth Leaders also help young people develop their confidence, teamwork skills, self-discipline, and generally encourage them to strive to be the best they can be, as well as supervise and support other adult volunteers in their team.

Wednesday evening 7:00-8:30pm

Telford After Care Team CIO and Branches TACT are a dedicated support charity helping the people of Telford and Wrekin who are struggling with mental health and/or addiction issues.  We run a drop in facility for anyone who needs help between the hours of 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday. 

We have a timetable of free events and peer support activities, free on site listening support, a supported housing facility, outreach and a crisis night service (professional referral-into).

Our volunteers receive free accredited training, full expenses, and a dbs check.

Our staff all have lived experience of mental health/addiction/the justice system/social services etc.  It’s our company pledge that we help people to realise their potential and help others in a safe, encouraging environment.  Strickland House is a friendly, lively and non-judgmental place.

We offer volunteering opportunities in Support Work, Reception Desk, Café, Gardening, Facilitating groups, Administration, Creative Writing, Singing and much more.

Introduction to Ironbridge Coracle Trust and the Supporter’s offer The Ironbridge Coracle Trust project is a NLHF project which began in August 2019 and will be completed by the end of October 2022. The project has enabled the Trust to restore the Old Coracle Shed, create a Coracle Man Sculpture, and a New Shed which is now a museum telling the story of Coracles in Ironbridge and run a varied programme of community focused events.

As the project comes to an end, we need to look at sustainability of the site without the financial support of the Heritage Fund. This is where our new ‘Supporter’ offer will be useful. Not only do we see it as a way to make some financial income, but it is also a great way to get our message out to a wider audience, recruit volunteers and market our activities to a wider audience. We aim to launch the offer at the upcoming Regatta.

We have a small team who have currently been planning the offer and launch but we are now looking for someone with more expertise to help us push forward and make sure our launch is as successful as possible.

To act as Presenter on the weekly East Shropshire Talking Newspaper recording, providing continuity and information.

In addition to Presenting the Wednesday Night Recording, some preparation work in the prior days is also required.

A team of people act as joint Presenters, (each taking their turn on a roster).
