Music & Wellbeing Volunteer

Suitable for -

Opportunity Description

Smashroom Music & Wellbeing CIC is looking for friendly, reliable volunteers to help us deliver welcoming music and wellbeing sessions for adults in the Telford area.

Volunteers may support relaxed group activities such as guitar and music jams, singing, karaoke, songwriting, rhythm activities, beginner ukulele or keyboard, recording tasters and general social connection.

We would particularly welcome musicians and people with experience or interest in mental health and wellbeing, first aid, mentoring, community work, events, or supporting people who may feel isolated or lack confidence.

You do not need to be a professional musician or mental-health professional. The most important qualities are patience, empathy, reliability, and an ability to make people feel welcome.

Volunteers work alongside the CIC team and are not expected to provide counselling, medical advice, or clinical mental-health support.

Flexible volunteering opportunities are available around our music and wellbeing sessions.

Possible duties include welcoming participants, helping set up and pack away equipment, supporting music activities, encouraging quieter participants, refreshments, basic session administration, events, and fundraising. We can match duties to each volunteer's skills and confidence.

Please tell us about any musical instruments you play and any experience in wellbeing, mental health, first aid, mentoring, community work, or event

Requirements

Applicants should be aged 18 or over, approachable, dependable, and comfortable working with a diverse range of adults. Useful experience includes playing an instrument or singing, supporting wellbeing or mental health, first aid, mentoring/buddying, youth or community work, events, fundraising, administration, photography/media, or basic technology. Relevant qualifications are welcome but are not essential. Volunteers should respect confidentiality, boundaries, safeguarding procedures, and the inclusive ethos of the CIC. A DBS check and relevant induction/training may be required depending on the duties undertaken.
