Volunteer Telford

Arleston Community Centre is a small but very busy community building which is run and managed by volunteers, who took over in November 2016.

The Board of Trustees is currently made up of 11 volunteers who not only manage the day to day running of the centre, but also handle and process booking enquiries, promote what is on offer to the community and keep our new website and social media channels up to date.

We host many annual events and are proud to offer a diverse range of activities for all ages.

Duties to include:

(but not limited to, will depend on skills, interests, and time to be donated)

Assist with inputting data onto our online booking system – Lemon Booking

Create engaging content and support our community Facebook page.

Help to keep our website and busy online calendar up to date.

Help to design a Community Newsletter to be distributed locally.

Assist with developing a digital community noticeboard.

The Taste of the Caribbean has been providing high quality for the past 12 Months. Our amazing team of volunteers donate over 15000 hours of their time and considerable skill in order to support the organisation. As a catering volunteer you’ll be at the forefront of our operations as part of the catering team, you’ll help to maintain the highest possible standards of cleanliness and service for our customers in our dining-rooms and kitchen. You will be given training and supervision.

Role details

- To help set up the dining room, serve meals, clear away at all meal times.

- Keep the kitchen, dining room and other catering areas clean, this includes pot washing, cleaning of appliances and operating dishwasher machine.

- Help the Cook Caribbean food preparation, put away deliveries and keep the kitchen and cooking utensils clean and tidy. Adhere to Health & Safety food & hygiene regulations. From time to time you may be required to help in other areas.

 For many volunteers it’s an opportunity to develop confidence and self esteem whilst experiencing new cultures.

 As a volunteer we recommend you carry out a minimum of 4 hours volunteering a week from 3pm to 7 pm to get the most from this opportunity but of course if you have more time available more help is always welcome.

Service Delivery Volunteers work alongside our staff teams to provide support to victims of crime helping them to move beyond crime via emotional and practical support both face to face and online.

Approx. 3hrs per week

Role Purpose:

To support Small Woods’ new Giftware Shop as a retail sales assistant.

To act as an information point for The Green Wood Centre Site.

To promote Small Woods membership to interested members of the public/customers.

Main tasks: (All necessary training will be provided)

- To process customer purchases using ‘Square-up’ system and/or cash.

- To maintain accurate records and undertake ‘end of day’ procedures for sales

- To ensure shop displays are topped up, refreshed and well-presented.

- To act as a focal point for people requiring basic information about Small Woods and the Green Wood Centre site. To hand out leaflets as required

- To discuss the benefits of becoming a member of the Small Woods Association and to promote membership where appropriate.
