Helping our busy store team to move goods from collection to the shop floor, including sorting items for sale, function testing, health and safety checks of goods in and pricing items.

Local homelessness organisations Stay, Maninplace and YMCA are looking for a handyman or women to carry out general DIY tasks in the flats/houses that we manage in Telford.

Please get in touch if you are able to offer some time to help us maintain the accommodation offered to the people we help.

You would be required to undertake internal and external DIY tasks such as repairs and maintenance. This could include building flat pack furniture, hanging pictures, putting up curtain poles, minor plumbing and electrical tasks, painting & decorating etc.

Read Easy Telford and Shropshire East is affiliated to Read Easy UK, a national charity that helps adults learn to read and which has nearly 60 groups across England.

Read Easy Telford & Wrekin was established in 2019 and continues to grow to be a highly impactful local group with an increasing number of Reading Pairs (Reading Coach and Reader).

It is run by a hard-working, dedicated group of team members, all of whom are also volunteers.
The group is now seeking a new Referral Networker (Telford area).

This is a vital and interesting role within our Management Team to create and develop relationships with local agencies, such as Job Centres, social services and many others who may be able to refer potential readers to the group.

This voluntary position will suit people who thrive on networking and making new connections. The longevity of our local groups is down to securing a steady stream of Reader referrals, so you will play an instrumental part in making sure your group thrives.

Be the key contact for fundraising in your local community to raise money from a variety of activities such as collections, social events and tea parties.

The Fundraising Group Coordinator is responsible for coordinating a group of volunteers to raise funds through events or other activities, delegating tasks to other members of the group as required and being the key contact in the local area.

What you will do

- Organising and attending events such as the Great Guide Dogs Tea Party, Pub Quizzes and collections in your local area

- Encouraging local businesses, schools and groups to name their own guide dog puppy

- Building relationships with local networks, socials groups, schools and businesses to encourage them to host their own event in support of Guide Dogs

- Working as part of Guide Dogs’ fundraising team with staff and volunteers

- Liaising with Community Fundraiser informing them of events in your area

- Making sure your fundraising policies and procedures are followed

- Being a passionate local ambassador for Guide Dogs’ work

- Ensuring that any information provided by Guide Dogs is cascaded to relevant supporters or volunteers

- Ensuring income raised from events is banked in a timely manner
