Support in the process of enabling victims and perpetrators of crime to come together to collectively repair and find a positive way forward.

Approx. 3hrs per week

Why we need your help:

As a confident public speaker, you will be out and about giving talks about the charity and explaining what we do.  Whether speaking to local clubs, associations or schools, you will ensure local people know about the vital support we provide as well as helping to increase volunteering and fundraising for the charity.

What we need you to do:

Become familiar with the work of RABC in your local area in particular.

Research and book talks with organisations which welcome outside speakers at meetings.

Liaise with your local Community Engagement Manager with regard to new and/or existing contacts in the community.

Deliver engaging and motivational talks using prepared scripts as guides.

Pass nay donations and expressions of interest in supporting RABC back to your local Community Engagement Manager as quickly as possible.

Keep a record of approaches made and talks given and occasionally represent the charity at local events and cheque presentations.

The ‘Move to Thrive’ project for people with dementia and their carers is a partnership project with Age UK STW, Telford & Wrekin Council’s Public Health and Adult Social Care Teams, Community Resource and The Alzheimer's Society.

The project will provide combined social and physical activity sessions for people with dementia and their carers in a community venue supported by a ‘buddy’ Support Worker system and will provide an ‘at home’ offer for people unable to attend the group sessions.

Roles/Responsibilities:

Welcoming participants to the group physical activity sessions on arrival, including people with dementia and their carers.

Supporting participants to get themselves a drink and snack, and fill in the survey form, before and after activity sessions.

Supporting the activity providers and participants with the booking-in and payment process as well as helping to monitor everyone’s wellbeing throughout the session.

Encouraging participants to take part in the activity and develop social interactions with each other.

Support participants to build trust and confidence to book onto and attend future sessions.

Read and understand this Role Description before starting and carry out your duties in accordance with these guidelines and the purpose of the project.

Be mindful of your own and the participants’ health, safety, and welfare.

Report any changes to rota arrangements as soon as possible.

Report any concerns or problems that need further referrals or investigation.

Not share information about participants or what they tell you with anyone else, unless there are safeguarding concerns.

Undertake any training necessary for the role, such as Dementia Awareness training. 

Time Commitment:

Volunteers can choose which sessions they are able to support. It is hoped that there will be 1 or 2 volunteers present at each session.

We would like to recruit volunteers to support our sessions on Tuesday mornings (10:45am to 12noon) and Thursday afternoons (1:30pm to 2:45pm) in Oakengates.

In addition, there may be training courses to attend, e.g. Dementia Awareness training.

If you are good at putting together visual media, for the web including event posters and regular content, please get in touch.

This role is done mostly from the volunteers own home, in their own time. Occasional face to face meetings with rest of volunteers – maybe on Zoom or F2F.  Time volunteered is in correlation with skill of the volunteer, but there needs to be a regular, at least weekly input and monitoring of same.

You will need to attend our 3 main events:  a seedswap, a plantswap and a harvest event during the year and take photos.  Each event held on a Saturday.

Attending our monthly business/social meetings, once a month, first Tuesday of each month in the evening.

In their own home and business meeting in the Cock Hotel Wellington.
