Volunteer Telford

Helping our busy store team to move goods from collection to the shop floor, including sorting items for sale, function testing, health and safety checks of goods in and pricing items.

Local homelessness organisations Stay, Maninplace, Kip and YMCA are seeking passionate and caring people to help fundraise in order to raise vital funds for their work supporting homeless and vulnerable people in the area.

We need help with fundraising events already set up, arranging new fundraising events and encouraging others to fundraise to help Telford's homeless.

There is no set requirement regarding the amount of time it is simply as much time as you are able to give. No previous experience required.

So if you have a passion for helping homeless and vulnerable people then please get in touch and help us to support people to change their lives and leave homelessness behind forever.

Read Easy Telford and Shropshire East is affiliated to Read Easy UK, a national charity that helps adults learn to read and which has nearly 60 groups across England.

Read Easy Telford & Wrekin was established in 2019 and continues to grow to be a highly impactful local group with an increasing number of Reading Pairs (Reading Coach and Reader).

It is run by a hard-working, dedicated group of team members, all of whom are also volunteers.
The group is now seeking a new Publicity Organiser.

Spreading the word is key to your local community understanding what your Read Easy group does and how people can get the reading support they need or volunteer to help.

You will be creative, determined and passionate about communications, and bringing people together. You’ll be confident using local media, social media, and creating leaflets, posters and other resources provided by Read Easy UK to help get the message out there into your community about the life-changing journey of learning to read.

Once the local community and media hear about the thousands of adults who can’t read in the area, it will be your responsibility to make sure that your local Read Easy group is able to capitalise on this attention!

To assist  and support staff in planning, delivery and evaluation of the service provided and other events as appropriate.

Facilitate planned play activities and encourage parents and carers to actively participate in their children’s play and learning.

Assist in the preparation of the venue.

Welcome and introduce parents, carers and children to the session (the ‘meet and greet’ role) and support with the conclusion of the session.

Assist in tidying up during and after the session and encourage parents, carers and children to be actively involved.

Assist in maintaining a safe environment at all times.

Inform Donnington Community Hub at the earliest opportunity, should they be unable to attend a session or event.

Work within the policies and procedures of Children and Family Early Help Telford & Wrekin Council, with particular reference to Safeguarding, Confidentiality, Equality and Diversity, and Health and Safety.
