Ramblers Wellbeing Walks, Telford and Wrekin currently run 17 walks across 11 different locations in Telford, most are weekly, with one running twice a month and 3 just once a month.
These walks are supported by 26 active leaders. Unlike many Ramblers Wellbeing Walks schemes, this is run by a purely volunteer group.
The aims of the scheme are to provide free, friendly, dependable walks that only need good footwear. The walks are graded at 3 levels, none lasting longer than 90 mins.
The scheme is now looking for a Volunteer Coordinator.
The main tasks are:
- Updating the Ramblers website with amendments or new walks:
- Taking enquiries via phone or email from prospective walkers and walk leaders:
- Co-ordinating walk leaders who are volunteering to lead extra walks to cover gaps or to work on information stands at events:
- Acting as the link between the scheme and Ramblers.
The current co-ordinator only volunteered to take the role on a temporary basis and will support someone to take over.
Anyone with an interest is promoting physical and mental health through walking could take on the role.
The role could also be split between 2 to 4 people. and would suit newly retired person.
Time Commitment:
The role currently takes up to 2 -3 hours per week.
